Seeed Studio Launches Bluetooth LE Dev Boards on Nordic nRF54LM20A SoC

Seeed Studio Releases XIAO nRF54LM20A Boards Powered by Nordic Semiconductor's Bluetooth LE SoC

OSLO, Norway September 28, 2026, Seeed Studio, a leading open-source hardware developer, has launched two new wireless development boards  the XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense and XIAO nRF54LM20A powered by Nordic Semiconductor's nRF54LM20A System-on-Chip (SoC) and nPM1300 Power Management IC (PMIC). The boards are designed for a broad range of battery-powered IoT applications, including wearables, smart home systems, industrial automation, and smart sensing, reinforcing the continued hardware-level expansion of the Bluetooth 5.0 Market, which was valued at USD 7.8 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 22.6 billion by 2035, advancing at a CAGR of 11.2% from 2026 to 2035, according to Next Move Strategy Consulting.

The nRF54LM20A SoC at the core of both boards integrates a 128 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor, 512 KB RAM, 2 MB on-chip non-volatile memory, and a 128 MHz RISC-V coprocessor. Its ultra-low-power multiprotocol 2.4 GHz radio supports Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth Channel Sounding, Bluetooth Mesh, Thread, Zigbee, Matter, and proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols at data rates up to 4 Mbps.

The XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense variant additionally incorporates a 6-axis IMU and a digital microphone, enabling developers to prototype voice, audio, motion, and gesture applications without supplementary hardware. The nPM1300 PMIC consolidates battery charging, voltage regulation, power management, and fuel gauging into a single component, reducing discrete power-management requirements while supporting the long battery life demanded by compact, always-connected devices.

Kevin Yang, Senior Product Manager and Maker Team Lead at Seeed Studio, stated: "Its combination of higher processing performance, larger memory capacity, improved power efficiency, and advanced wireless capabilities made it a strong fit for the next generation of XIAO products, with significantly more capability for complex battery-powered applications." Seeed Studio is also preparing an upcoming XIAO nRF54LM20B variant, further extending the platform's reach into next-generation low-power edge AI devices.

Key Highlights:

  • Multiprotocol Connectivity: The nRF54LM20A SoC supports Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth Channel Sounding, Bluetooth Mesh, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter on a single ultra-low-power 2.4 GHz radio platform.

  • Integrated Sensing (Sense Variant): The XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense includes a 6-axis IMU and digital microphone, enabling voice, audio, motion, and gesture prototyping without additional hardware.

  • Enterprise-Grade Security: Both boards feature secure boot, TrustZone-enabled trusted execution environment, cryptographic acceleration with side-channel protection, tamper detection, and secure firmware update capabilities.

  • Compact, Ecosystem-Ready Form Factor: Measuring 21 by 17.8 mm, both boards are compatible with the broader XIAO ecosystem of expansion boards, accessories, and open-source examples, accelerating the path from proof of concept to production prototype.

Analyst Insight:

According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, the launch of Seeed Studio's XIAO nRF54LM20A development boards reflects a broader industry trend toward multiprotocol, ultra-low-power Bluetooth LE SoC platforms that lower the barrier to entry for IoT product development across wearables, smart home, and industrial automation verticals. NMSC analysts note that the integration of Bluetooth Channel Sounding, Bluetooth Mesh, and Matter support within a single compact SoC is consistent with the market's structural shift toward convergent wireless connectivity architectures, which is a key driver of the Bluetooth 5.0 Market's projected expansion from USD 8.7 billion in 2026 to USD 22.6 billion by 2035. The availability of accessible, pre-certified development platforms such as the XIAO nRF54LM20A is expected to accelerate design-win cycles for SME developers — the fastest-growing organizational segment in the Bluetooth 5.0 Market, advancing at a CAGR of 12.6% through 2035.

Industry Outlook:

The release of Seeed Studio's XIAO nRF54LM20A boards underscores the accelerating democratization of advanced Bluetooth LE hardware, as multiprotocol SoC platforms with enterprise-grade security and AI-edge readiness become accessible to a wider developer community. As the Bluetooth 5.0 Market continues its expansion across healthcare, smart home, industrial IoT, and location-based services, the availability of compact, power-efficient, and ecosystem-integrated development platforms is expected to shorten product development cycles and broaden the addressable market for Bluetooth-enabled connected devices. Seeed Studio's planned introduction of the XIAO nRF54LM20B variant signals continued investment in this platform, pointing to sustained hardware innovation momentum within the global Bluetooth LE development ecosystem through the remainder of the decade.
