WUHU, China — July 20, 2026 — Chinese automaker SOUEAST said its S08 DM hybrid SUV now features a 15.6-inch tilting smart display paired with a 12-speaker surround sound system, positioning the vehicle's cabin as an immersive entertainment hub for fans traveling to global football matches this season. The announcement, distributed via GlobeNewswire and carried by The Manila Times, highlights the accelerating integration of large-format smart displays into automotive cockpits, a trend reshaping demand across the broader smart display industry.
The company, which operates in 48 countries, said the S08 DM combines the in-cabin display with a 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load function capable of powering external projectors and audiovisual equipment, effectively turning parking lots and campsites into outdoor viewing spaces. SOUEAST paired the display upgrade with claims of over 1,000 km of combined range and an NEDC-rated fuel consumption of 5.3 L per 100 km.
The development arrives as automotive cockpit digitization emerges as one of the most structurally significant demand drivers for the global smart display industry. Regulatory mandates such as UNECE Regulation No. 46, which requires Camera Monitor Systems to replace conventional optical rearview mirrors on new passenger vehicles in Europe, are compelling automakers worldwide to embed multiple digital display surfaces per vehicle, spanning instrument clusters, center stacks, rear entertainment screens, and head-up displays.
SOUEAST's S08 DM integrates a 15.6-inch tilting smart display and 12-speaker surround system to enhance in-cabin entertainment experiences.
The vehicle's 6.6 kW V2L function can power external displays and audiovisual gear, extending smart display use beyond the cabin.
Automotive OEMs including Tesla, BMW, NIO, and BYD are deploying large-format curved and pillar-to-pillar cockpit displays, reflecting an industry-wide digitization wave.
Premium and electric vehicle manufacturers are installing four to six distinct smart display units per vehicle as user-experience differentiation intensifies.
According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, the global Smart Display Market is projected to reach USD 21.4 billion in 2026, before advancing to USD 74.3 billion by 2035 at a compound annual growth rate of 14.8 percent, with automotive cockpit digitization identified as a non-discretionary demand driver contributing roughly 1.8 percentage points to the sector's CAGR through 2035. NMSC analysts note that the Automotive (Smart Mirror) and Automotive (Other In-Vehicle Displays) application segments together generated USD 4.7 billion in 2025 and are forecast to expand at CAGRs of 16.2 percent and 14.1 percent respectively through 2035, reflecting sustained OEM investment in digital cockpit architectures.
Automotive-grade smart display adoption is expected to remain a durable growth pillar for the sector as regulatory mandates and consumer demand for immersive in-cabin experiences converge. With OLED and MicroLED cost curves declining and electric vehicle platforms expanding globally, manufacturers embedding multi-surface display architectures into vehicle cockpits are likely to capture a growing share of the market's projected expansion through 2035.
