DUBAI, United Arab Emirates August 31, 2026 The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has formally established a dedicated Lab-Grown Diamond Vertical, creating a standalone global platform for the sector as the United Arab Emirates records its highest-ever lab-grown diamond trade volumes. The development carries significant implications for the global Lab Grown Diamonds Market, which is projected to reach USD 34.06 billion by 2030, according to Next Move Strategy Consulting.
The UAE recorded 76.9 million carats of lab-grown diamond trade in 2025, an increase of 91.5% year-on-year, with the value of trade rising 7.5% to USD 1.3 billion. Volumes have more than doubled since 2022, rising 109% from 36.8 million carats, with imports and re-exports expanding at broadly the same rate pointing to sustained growth across the UAE's trade flows rather than a shift in one segment of the market.
DMCC's decision to establish lab-grown diamonds as a standalone vertical reflects the increasingly distinct economics underpinning the sector. The vertical creates an explicit separation from DMCC's natural diamond and coloured stone activities, recognising that lab-grown diamonds are characterised by scalable manufacturing, technical specification, and industrial utility. The UAE's total diamond trade reached a record USD 41.7 billion in 2025, alongside sharp growth in synthetic and industrial diamond volumes.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, stated: "Lab-grown diamonds have reached the point where they need dedicated market infrastructure and a distinct economic case of their own, developed alongside the natural diamond trade rather than in place of it. With 76.9 million carats of lab-grown diamonds traded through the United Arab Emirates in 2025, more than double the 2022 figure, Dubai already has the scale to help shape the sector's next phase. DMCC's Lab-Grown Diamond Vertical gives the industry a dedicated global platform to expand international trade flows, bring producers, technology companies and buyers closer together, and build the transparent market infrastructure the sector needs for its continued development."
The vertical will bring together global and regional producers, manufacturers, traders, investors, finance providers, technology companies, and industrial users. Beyond jewellery, the vertical targets the growing industrial and technological applications of lab-grown diamonds including semiconductors, diamond wafers, quantum technologies, space systems, and precision engineering where the material's thermal, optical, and mechanical properties are increasingly commercially significant.

According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, the establishment of DMCC's Lab-Grown Diamond Vertical signals a critical maturation point for the sector. The global Lab Grown Diamonds Market, valued at USD 18.91 billion in 2023, is forecast to reach USD 34.06 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 8.8%, driven by increasing consumer awareness, continuous advancements in CVD and HPHT manufacturing technologies, and expanding industrial applications. NMSC analysts note that dedicated trade infrastructure such as DMCC's new vertical is essential for building the transparent market frameworks that institutional buyers, technology companies, and industrial users require for long-term sector participation. The formalisation of Dubai as a dedicated lab-grown diamond hub is expected to accelerate trade flow consolidation across the sector's three foundational markets: China (production), India (manufacturing and processing), and the United States (consumer demand and technology innovation).
The formalisation of DMCC's Lab-Grown Diamond Vertical marks a structural shift in how the global diamond trade is organised. By creating dedicated infrastructure for lab-grown diamonds, Dubai positions itself as a central node in a supply chain that spans China's dominant production base, India's manufacturing and processing expertise, and the United States' consumer market and technological leadership. As industrial applications in semiconductors, quantum computing, and aerospace gain commercial traction, the distinction between lab-grown diamonds as a jewellery alternative and as a high-performance industrial material is expected to sharpen further. The next DMCC Lab-Grown Diamond Symposium, scheduled for 2027, is anticipated to provide further clarity on the sector's evolving trade, technology, and regulatory agenda.
