PERTH, Australia — October 29, 2026 — Woodside Energy has signed a 20-year sale and purchase agreement to supply QatarEnergy with up to 3 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of liquefied natural gas from its Louisiana LNG project in the United States. The agreement adds a second long-term customer for the project and draws attention to the infrastructure that underpins the Gas Turbine Market, where oil and gas applications form a core demand segment.
Louisiana LNG is under construction near Lake Charles, Louisiana. Woodside will supply the volumes from its share of HoldCo output on a free-on-board basis, beginning at the start-up of Train 2. Supply will rise to 3 Mtpa once Train 3 starts operating.
Woodside Chief Executive and Managing Director Liz Westcott described the agreement as a landmark pairing of the company’s U.S. LNG project with a leading global energy company. She said it builds on the previously announced Uniper agreement and that the two contracts together provide revenue certainty for a material portion of project output.
According to the industry page, the global gas turbine market was valued at USD 48.84 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 74.46 billion by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 8.8% from 2025 to 2030. The page identifies oil and gas applications, including offshore and onshore mechanical drive and pipeline compression, as a distinct market segment.
The agreement covers up to 3 Mtpa of LNG over 20 years from the Louisiana LNG project near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Deliveries begin on a free-on-board basis at Train 2 start-up and rise to 3 Mtpa at Train 3 start-up.
Woodside will supply the volumes from its share of HoldCo output, and the contract builds on the earlier Uniper agreement.
The gas turbine market is projected to reach USD 74.46 billion by 2030, with oil and gas among its defined application segments.
According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, long-term LNG offtake agreements indicate sustained commitment to gas value-chain infrastructure, an area in which gas turbines serve mechanical drive and power generation needs. NMSC analysts note that the pace of project execution, and the associated equipment and aftermarket requirements, will shape demand in the oil and gas application segment.
Long-dated supply contracts of this kind give project developers the revenue visibility that typically precedes equipment procurement and services demand. The oil and gas segment remains one of several application areas, alongside power generation, manufacturing and critical facilities, that contribute to the gas turbine market’s projected 8.8% CAGR through 2030. Progress at Louisiana LNG toward Train 2 and Train 3 start-up will indicate how quickly contracted volumes translate into operating capacity.
