Smart Robotics Secures €10M to Scale European AI Tech

Smart Robotics Secures €10M Series A to Expand AI Logistics Footprint Across Europe

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands — May 14, 2026 — In a major expansion for European logistics automation, Dutch intralogistics developer Smart Robotics has successfully closed a €10 million Series A funding round. The capital injection is designated to accelerate the commercial deployment of its AI-driven warehouse robotics platform and capture market share across critical European supply chain corridors.

The investment round was led by Rotterdamse Havendraken, with active participation from Innovation Industries and the Dutch family office Ernij Next. The fresh funding arrives at a time when macro labor shortages and shifting e-commerce demands are forcing operators to transition away from manual fulfillment workflows.

Capitalizing on a Billion-Pick Data Advantage

Unlike rigid, traditional automation hardware, the Smart Robotics framework relies on an advanced, software-centric control layer that operates alongside off-the-shelf cobots (collaborative robots). The company recently achieved a dominant milestone within the European intralogistics sector, logging over 1 billion successful, real-world "picks" in active production environments.

"The accumulation of large-scale operational data is the primary barrier to entry in the warehouse automation sector," states a senior logistics analyst at Next Move Strategy Consulting. "According to NMSC analysts, the European robotics market is projected to expand significantly by 2027. Companies that possess massive, proprietary data structures to train their embodied AI models hold a distinct structural advantage in handling complex, high-variability SKU inventories."

Key Operational Capabilities at a Glance:

  • High-Volume Processing: Capable of executing up to 1,000 automated pick-and-place operations per hour across diverse packaging variants.

  • Industrial-Grade Reliability: Maintains a verified 99.5% average operational uptime in live production settings.

  • System Agnostic Integration: Deploys proprietary AI software on standard robotic hardware, allowing flexible retrofitting into existing facility workflows.

Addressing the European Labor Deficit

The expansion directly targets core logistics sectors facing high labor friction, including e-commerce, third-party logistics (3PL), retail, and food fulfillment. By focusing heavily on the automation of repetitive, low-yield manual sorting and palletizing, the platform intends to stabilize supply chain throughput.

"Smart Robotics combines deep technical expertise with a clear understanding of real-world logistics operations," notes Robin Slakhorst at Rotterdamse Havendraken. "Their ability to leverage operational data to continuously improve performance gives them a strong, defensible position in this rapidly growing market."

With system configurations already active across 15 countries and five distinct industries, the injection of capital will scale the company’s commercial footprint as logistics corridors brace for stricter efficiency and regulatory guidelines under the unfolding EU AI Act framework.
