Honey Production โ Honey production refers to the annual quantity of natural honey harvested from managed honeybee colonies through beekeeping activities. It represents the total output of honey collected by beekeepers during a specific period and is used as a macro indicator to assess the scale, productivity, and performance of the apiculture sector. The indicator measures honey production volumes across countries and regions, helping analyze long-term production trends, agricultural contributions, and developments within the global honey industry.
Production continued expanding in 2017, reaching 76.38 thousand tonnes, and further increased to 79.47 thousand tonnes in 2018, representing the highest production level during the initial years. This growth reflects the countryโs extensive floral resources, established beekeeping networks, and improved efficiency in honey harvesting activities.
From 2019 onwards, Argentinaโs honey production remained at a high level but experienced moderate fluctuations. Production declined to 71.19 thousand tonnes in 2019 before recovering slightly to 72.61 thousand tonnes in 2020. Output remained relatively stable in the following years, reaching 73.15 thousand tonnes in 2021. However, production gradually declined to 71.76 thousand tonnes in 2022, 69.70 thousand tonnes in 2023, and approximately 69.30 thousand tonnes in 2024. Despite these fluctuations, Argentina maintained a strong production base throughout the decade.
Argentinaโs honey industry is supported by favorable agricultural conditions, diverse vegetation, and a well-developed beekeeping sector. The country is recognized for high-quality honey production, with contributions from both commercial and small-scale beekeepers. The apiculture industry supports rural employment, export opportunities, and agricultural productivity through pollination services.
From a macro indicator perspective, Argentinaโs honey production reflects a mature and globally competitive apiculture sector with strong production capacity. Although output declined slightly after reaching its peak in 2018, production in 2024 remained significantly higher than the 2015 level. The increase from 52.60 thousand tonnes in 2015 to 69.30 thousand tonnes in 2024 demonstrates long-term sector growth. Future development will depend on sustainable beekeeping practices, climate adaptation, improved colony management, and strengthening Argentinaโs position in international honey markets.
