The COVID-19 crisis revealed risks in concentrated production models, spurring DCVMN’s focus on regional empowerment. In a virtual keynote, Indonesia’s Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin praised the network’s pandemic contributions and its role in elevating developing countries as key players in vaccine evolution.

“Through member commitment, DCVMN has transformed global vaccine manufacturing—scaling capacity, embracing new technologies, and building robust partnerships,” he noted, stressing that local production strengthens supply chain and delivers lasting value.

Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono highlighted collaborative R&D and equity, citing Indonesia’s Vaccine Collaboration Center and the Indonesia-China Joint Research and Development on Vaccines and Genomics Secretariat in Kura-Kura, Bali.

“No nation stands alone; DCVMN fosters innovation and equitable vaccine access,” Dante declared, adding that Indonesia advances health independence via the center, Tsinghua University partnership, and TB/malaria clinical trials.

Delivering to over 150 countries with 12 WHO-prequalified products, Bio Farma supplies UNICEF’s core polio vaccines for eradication campaigns. President Director Shadiq Akasya called for multilateral dialogue to sustain industry health alongside public protection.

“We require joint solutions with WHO, Gavi, CEPI, and donors to protect viability and health outcomes,” Shadiq urged, advocating a shared responsibility model amid stringent regulations and funding gaps.

The AGM serves Bio Farma as a platform to deepen ties and promote self-reliance in developing markets.

DCVMN CEO Rajinder Suri stressed readiness for emerging threats.

“We stand prepared with CEPI and WHO, applying pandemic lessons—AI and digital tools are conference priorities,” Suri said, noting collective action across sectors to secure a healthier future.
