NEEDVILLE, Texas, United States — August 6, 2026 — Global renewable energy developer Ørsted has commenced commercial operations at its Old 300 Storage project, a 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Needville, Texas — marking a significant operational milestone for the Energy Storage Infrastructure Market as utility-scale deployments accelerate across the United States.
The Old 300 Storage facility, situated in Fort Bend County and fully integrated into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid, was constructed using Tesla Megapacks manufactured at Tesla's Lathrop, California Megafactory.
