Oman Partnership Accelerates Green Hydrogen Export Corridor to Europe; Global Market Dynamics Shift

MUSCAT, Oman — May 27, 2026 — In a decisive move that reshapes international clean energy trade, Oman has advanced a major commercial Green Hydrogen export corridor to Northwestern Europe. Signed during the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, the milestone agreement establishes the "NoorBridge" initiative—a strategic clean energy supply chain framework linking Omani production hubs with Dutch and European industrial markets.

A Strategic Leap in Clean Energy Logistics

The newly formed alliance brings together a heavyweight consortium including Sohar Port and Freezone, Asyad Group, the German University of Technology in Oman, and the Holland Hydrogen Hub alongside various Dutch logistics stakeholders. The group has initiated an extensive feasibility study to evaluate the infrastructure, optimized shipping routes, and supply chain requirements needed to move massive volumes of renewable energy from the Gulf to European gateways like the Port of Rotterdam.

The evaluation will prioritize determining the most commercially viable carrier medium for large-scale maritime transport, assessing options such as:

• Liquid Hydrogen: Utilizing advanced deep-cooling technologies for direct transport.

• Green Ammonia: Leveraging high-density, easily liquefied chemical carriers.

• Other Hydrogen Carriers: Exploiting efficient chemical vectors to support safe transit across existing logistics networks.

"International cooperation and aligned regulatory frameworks are critical to accelerating the global transition to low-carbon energy systems," stated H.E. Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Oman's Minister of Energy and Minerals, emphasizing that synchronized cross-border infrastructure development is a prerequisite to achieving long-term net-zero targets.

The agreement marks a vital step as Europe seeks to secure competitive, low-carbon imports to replace fossil fuels in heavy industry.
