LONDON, United Kingdom — October 29, 2026 — Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer by global volumes, reported third-quarter organic operating profit growth of 3.9%, in line with forecasts. The result was weighed down by rising costs, according to Reuters. The figures offer a read on conditions across the global Beer Market, where producers are managing higher input and logistics expenses.
The maker of Budweiser and Stella Artois said revenues rose more than expected. Commodity costs offset top-line growth in some countries. Operating margin contracted 34 basis points to 36.1%, and cost of sales reached $7.21 billion, the highest level since 2023.
The company cited higher commodity, distribution and transportation costs in key markets, including the United States, Europe and South Africa. Sales and marketing investments in those markets also weighed on profit.
Sales in China fell a further 16.8% in the quarter, which weighed on growth across most of the company’s footprint. The company also recorded record-high volumes in 15 markets. Its shares, up about 30% so far this year, fell 2.7% in early trading.
The global Beer Market was valued at USD 662.05 billion in 2023. It is projected to reach USD 773.52 billion by 2030, a CAGR of 2.2% from 2024 to 2030.
Organic operating profit rose 3.9% in the third quarter, while operating margin narrowed 34 basis points to 36.1%.
Cost of sales reached $7.21 billion, the highest since 2023, with higher commodity, distribution and transportation costs reported in the United States, Europe and South Africa.
Sales in China declined 16.8%, while record volumes were recorded in 15 other markets.
Reuters reported that diesel prices have reached record highs, raising freight and transport costs across industries, and that energy and aluminium costs have also risen.
According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, Asia-Pacific holds the largest share of the global beer market. Local producers there offer lower-priced, low-alcohol beers, a competitive backdrop relevant to the pressures AB InBev reported in China.
NMSC analysts note that growing interest in low-alcohol and alcohol-free products, together with regulatory scrutiny of alcoholic beverage sales, continues to shape strategy across the industry.
Cost inflation across energy, freight and packaging inputs is likely to remain a central factor in brewer profitability in the coming quarters. Reuters reported that other large consumer goods companies have also flagged rising cost pressures in recent weeks. AB InBev’s results show premium pricing and volume gains in several markets partly offsetting these costs, while China remains a weak market. The global beer industry is projected to expand at a modest annual rate through 2030, with performance continuing to vary by region.
