MUMBAI, India — October 26, 2026 — PepsiCo India has expanded its Better-for-You snacking portfolio with the launch of Quaker Protein Ladooz and Quaker Protein Chikki Bites, extending the oats brand beyond breakfast into everyday snacking. The move is relevant to the Protein Snacks Market, where large food companies are adapting traditional formats to meet demand for protein and fibre.
The new range includes Rose Dry Fruit Ladooz and Ragi Choco Chikki Bites. Both combine real oats, 12% protein and high fibre in familiar Indian snack formats, and both are made without artificial flavours or palm oil, the company said.
PepsiCo India supported the launch with a study titled The State of Protein & Fibre in Urban India, conducted with Euromonitor International and the Indian Institute of Millet Research. The study found that 70% of respondents consume less than 41 grams of protein daily and 61% fall short of recommended fibre intake. Sixty percent cited high cost as a barrier to consuming enough protein.
The study also found that 89% of Gen Z, Millennial and Gen X respondents want protein in more familiar, everyday food formats. Saakshi Verma Menon, Chief Marketing Officer – Foods at PepsiCo India, said the research points to an opportunity to make protein and fibre more accessible within everyday diets.
According to Next Move Strategy Consulting, the Protein Snacks Market was valued at USD 3.64 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach USD 8.20 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 9.7% over 2022–2030.
Quaker extends from oats into snacking with Protein Ladooz and Chikki Bites, which carry 12% protein and high fibre.
Both products use traditional Indian formats, intended to add protein without changing established eating habits.
PepsiCo India’s research identifies affordability and format familiarity as the main barriers to protein consumption.
Quaker launched a new campaign film alongside the products, centred on balancing taste with nutritious snacking.
According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, the launch reflects a wider shift toward localising protein-enriched products in formats consumers already recognise. NMSC analysts note that plant-based and on-the-go nutritional snacks are among the key growth drivers in the Protein Snacks Market, while high production cost remains a restraint on adoption.
The launch shows large food manufacturers adapting protein positioning to regional snack formats. Asia-Pacific is expected to see substantial growth in the Protein Snacks Market over the forecast period, supported by rising awareness of healthy snacking and continued product development. Whether affordability-led products can widen protein consumption among urban consumers will remain a point to watch.
