Dubai Municipality Kicks Off AED80mn Dubai Creek Lights Project Across 8km Waterfront 

DUBAI, UAE — August 7, 2026 — Dubai Municipality has commenced work on the AED80 million Dubai Creek Lights project, a large-scale architectural lighting and waterfront infrastructure initiative set to transform eight kilometres of the historic Dubai Creek through the installation of more than 5,000 customised lighting units across six key locations. The development marks a significant public infrastructure investment within the global Construction Market, which was valued at USD 12.55 trillion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 13.04 trillion by the end of 2026, according to Next Move Strategy Consulting. 

The project encompasses six distinct waterfront zones — Creek Quay, the Gold Souq promenade, the Creek entrance at Infinity Bridge, Al Shindagha Historic District, Bur Dubai Souq, and Al Seef Marina — each of which will receive a bespoke lighting design intended to highlight its architectural character and cultural heritage. The scope of works also includes upgrades to promenade lighting, waterfront walkways, Creek entrances, and building façades, with environmental measures incorporated to minimise the impact on marine life. 

Led by Dubai Municipality, the initiative is formally aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, positioning it as a long-term urban development investment rather than a standalone infrastructure project. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
