ROME, Italy — May 27, 2026 — As the automotive landscape accelerates its transition toward electrification, Ferrari has officially unveiled the Luce, its first-ever fully electric vehicle. The 1,050-horsepower Grand Tourer marks a monumental milestone for Maranello, representing a calculated expansion into the zero-emission segment without compromising the brand's performance heritage.
Developed completely in-house over five years, the Luce represents a radical reinvention of the luxury electric vehicle paradigm. Featuring a bespoke 800V born-electric skateboard platform, the vehicle incorporates a 122kWh battery pack seamlessly integrated into the floorpan to deliver a claimed range of 530 kilometers.
Co-designed in collaboration with LoveFrom, the creative collective led by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson, the Luce also introduces Ferrari’s first-ever four-door, five-seater cabin layout, balancing extreme track capability with unprecedented utility.
“The Luce is an entirely clean-sheet design engineered specifically for electric propulsion,” noted a company representative during the global reveal in Rome. “Electrification is not a compromise for us, but a new avenue to enhance design freedom and driving emotion.”
Quad-Motor Drivetrain: Four independent permanent magnet synchronous motors generating a combined 1,050hp and 990Nm of torque.
Elite Performance: A claimed 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 2.5 seconds, a 0–200 km/h sprint in 6.8 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 310 km/h.
Advanced Aerodynamics: A drag coefficient of just 0.254 cD, the lowest ever recorded for a road-legal Ferrari.
Authentic Acoustics: An integrated acoustic system using chassis accelerometers to capture and amplify real component vibrations, rejecting artificially synthesized engine noises.
The high-profile unveiling has drawn intense attention from luxury automotive analysts tracking the shifting high-end electrification space. Experts view the vehicle as a vital benchmark for ultra-luxury manufacturers attempting to electrify while maintaining brand equity.
"The entry of legacy supercar manufacturers into the pure EV sector is fundamentally rewriting long-term luxury automotive market size projections," states Sanyukta Deb, Lead Digital Strategist at Next Move Strategy Consulting. "According to NMSC analysts, the demand for ultra-high-performance Electric Vehicles is expanding exponentially. Ferrari's strategic decision to position the Luce alongside its existing internal combustion and hybrid lineups—rather than replacing them—sets a new baseline for portfolio diversification in the luxury segment."
By combining a heavily rear-biased quad-motor setup with a sophisticated Vehicle Control Unit that processes dynamic data 200 times per second, Ferrari aims to prove that electric propulsion can deliver the same visceral handling as its internal combustion counterparts. As the global shift toward premium electrification intensifies, the Luce signals a bold new era for Maranello, positioning the legendary Italian automaker to capture critical market share at the intersection of extreme luxury and zero-emission engineering.
