Industry Insights from Next Move Strategy Consulting

Modine (NYSE: MOD), a leader in innovative heating solutions in the HVAC industry, announced that the company revitalized the Dawg Series as part of its continued dedication to providing contractors with heating solutions for every building.

A Modern Refresh for a Trusted Heater

In Unitary Heater sector the Modine enhanced its Hot Dawg unit heaters based on feedback from trusted contractors. The Hot Dawg Gas-Fired Unit Heater now features a dimpled heat exchanger tube, which improves efficiency and replaces internal baffles, leading to lower noise levels. In addition, the gas valve manometer connections were relocated to the front, instead of the side of the valve, making the connection process simpler.

Key Design and Serviceability Enhancements to the Hot Dawg Unit Heater:

The Modine has introduce their revamped line of gas-fired, electric, and hydronic Dawgs, which come with improvements that enhance their performance, efficiency and design.

  • The flame roll-out sensor was relocated to the side of the burner box, allowing access without removing the front panel.

  • The control board was rotated, positioning the thermostat connections away from underneath the gas valve.

  • A pipe stub was added to the gas valve inlet, extending through the cabinet to enable all gas line connections outside the casing.

  • Along with service and performance improvements, the unit’s aesthetics were upgraded.

  • The Hot Dawg now features a stylish grey finish with contrasting satin black blades and hardware.

Revitalized Hot Dawg H20 Low Profile Hot Water Unit Heater Introduces New Features

The Hot Dawg H20 Low Profile Hot Water Unit Heater also received enhancements during its revitalization. Designed for homeowners and light commercial spaces utilizing boiler systems, the unit now features a three-row coil, along with half-inch copper water pipe stub-outs. The hydronic unit heater also presents a refreshed look, with a grey exterior case and black louvers, matching the modern design of its electric and gas-fired counterparts.

Amp Dawg Electric Unit Heater Celebrates First Year with Strong Market Presence

Marking its first year on the market, the Amp Dawg continues to serve as a powerful electric alternative for those seeking a non-gas option. Designed to deliver heating performance and air throw comparable to the Modine Hot Dawg gas-fired unit heater, the 5.7kW model offers flexibility for residential spaces such as basements, garages, and storage areas. For larger workshops and garages, the 9.0kW version provides two stages of controlled heating. Its low-profile design allows for easy installation, making it ideal for both new construction and retrofit projects.
