ISTANBUL, Turkey October 2, 2026 Turkish defense manufacturer Otokar has signed an export contract valued at $1.47 billion to supply wheeled armored vehicles to an undisclosed buyer nation, a development that underscores the accelerating pace of global defense procurement and reinforces the growth trajectory of the tracked vehicle mobility market.
The agreement, disclosed on Turkey's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), covers the supply of multiple wheeled armored vehicle types along with associated logistical support. Otokar has not disclosed the identity of the buyer nation, the number of vehicles involved, or the specific models included in the contract.
Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2027, with vehicles to be delivered in batches over a three-year period. The contract itself will remain valid for seven years, providing Otokar with a sustained multi-year revenue pipeline. The company's export portfolio includes the COBRA II 4×4, ARMA 6×6, and ARMA II 8×8 armored platforms.
The contract follows Otokar's previous landmark export agreement with Romania in November 2024, under which the company agreed to supply 1,059 COBRA II 4×4 armored vehicles in a deal valued at approximately €857 million at the time described as the largest single armored vehicle export contract in Turkey's history. As of July 2026, Romania had received approximately 300 vehicles manufactured across both Turkish and Romanian production facilities, with local production of 781 units established at a facility in Mediaș.

According to analysts at Next Move Strategy Consulting, the Otokar contract is a concrete indicator of the sustained global defense procurement momentum that is driving demand across both wheeled and tracked armored vehicle segments. The global tracked vehicle mobility market was valued at USD 22.18 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 36.47 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 5.10%.
NMSC analysts note that rising NATO and allied defense modernization budgets which drove a nearly 20% increase in combined European and Canadian defense spending in real terms in 2025 are the primary structural driver of this growth, with the tracked military vehicles segment alone valued at USD 6.88 billion in 2025 and forecast to reach USD 10.94 billion by 2035 at a 4.7% CAGR. Large-scale export contracts of this magnitude signal that defense organizations across multiple regions are actively expanding armored vehicle fleets, a trend that directly supports procurement pipelines for tracked platforms alongside wheeled systems.
The Otokar contract reinforces a broader pattern of large-scale defense procurement activity that is expanding demand across the global armored vehicle sector. As defense organizations worldwide accelerate fleet modernization programs, manufacturers of both wheeled and tracked platforms are positioned to benefit from sustained multi-year procurement pipelines.
The tracked vehicle mobility market presents an absolute dollar opportunity of USD 13.16 billion between 2026 and 2035, with defense organizations representing a significant buyer segment alongside construction, mining, and agricultural end markets. Sustained procurement activity of this scale is expected to support continued investment in tracked platform development and production capacity, particularly as NATO-aligned nations prioritize armored vehicle modernization through the forecast period.
