Beeswax Production — Beeswax production refers to the annual production output of beeswax, measured in tonnes or metric tons. The indicator presents country-level beeswax production statistics and time series, with values reported for each year in the selected period. It represents the quantity of beeswax harvested or produced from beekeeping activities within a country under the relevant apiculture and livestock product classification. Statistics are compiled from international agricultural databases and national agricultural reporting systems, including sources such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and official country data where available. The figures represent total beeswax production within the selected country and may include beeswax obtained from managed honeybee colonies and reported under the overall beeswax product category.
The indicator provides country-level production data and reflects the contribution of beekeeping to Cameroon’s agricultural and rural economy. During the period 2015–2024, Cameroon’s beeswax production showed a steady upward trend, increasing from approximately 301 tonnes in 2015 to around 310 tonnes in 2024. The gradual growth indicates consistent development in beekeeping activities, stable honeybee populations, and continued production capacity within the country’s apiculture sector. The limited annual variation suggests a relatively stable production environment supported by traditional and small-scale beekeeping systems. Cameroon benefits from diverse ecosystems and vegetation zones that provide favorable conditions for honeybee colonies. Beeswax production is closely linked to honey production activities, hive maintenance, and colony management practices. The product represents an important secondary output for beekeepers and supports industries requiring natural wax materials, including cosmetics, candles, pharmaceuticals, and traditional applications. The indicator includes beeswax produced from domestic apiculture operations and covers annual production reported under the beeswax classification. It excludes honey production, other bee products, imports, exports, consumption, processing volumes, and market valuation. Differences in reported figures may result from variations in data collection systems, beekeeping practices, production estimates, colony assessments, and environmental factors affecting bee productivity. Overall, Cameroon’s beeswax production demonstrates a stable and gradually expanding apiculture sector, emphasizing the importance of beekeeping as a sustainable agricultural activity and a contributor to rural livelihoods.
