Cashew Nut Production — – Cashew Nut Production refers to the total quantity of cashew nuts harvested and produced within a country during a specified period, measured in tonnes. The indicator reflects the scale of cashew cultivation and agricultural output and is used to assess crop productivity, farming capacity, and the contribution of cashew production to the agricultural sector. The data presented by Our World in Data is based on statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Based on the validated data, Vietnam experienced notable fluctuations in cashew nut production throughout the study period, reflecting changing agricultural conditions and production cycles. Production declined from 352.03 thousand tonnes in 2015 to 305.27 thousand tonnes in 2016 and further decreased to 215.76 thousand tonnes in 2017, representing the lowest production level during the initial period. Output recovered to 266.39 thousand tonnes in 2018 and increased to 286.05 thousand tonnes in 2019. Production continued improving to 348.50 thousand tonnes in 2020 and reached a study-period high of 399.31 thousand tonnes in 2021. However, output declined to 328.83 thousand tonnes in 2022, followed by a slight recovery to 347.63 thousand tonnes in 2023 before decreasing to 306.19 thousand tonnes in 2024. Overall, the dataset highlights Vietnam’s strong position as a major cashew producer, supported by significant production capacity despite annual fluctuations. The dataset provides valuable insights into production trends, industry performance, and agricultural development. It supports benchmarking against global producers, production forecasting, market analysis, and strategic planning. Farmers, policymakers, exporters, processors, investors, and researchers can utilize the dataset to assess production trends, improve cultivation efficiency, strengthen processing networks, optimize supply chains, identify investment opportunities, and support sustainable growth across Vietnam’s cashew nut industry.
