War Robots Dominate Eurosatory 2026 as UGV Demand Rises

War Robots Take Over Eurosatory 2026 as Ukraine Combat Use Drives UGV Industry Momentum

PARIS, France — June 29, 2026 — Unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) manufacturers dominated the exhibition floor at the 2026 Eurosatory defense trade show in Paris, with at least 50 makers and more than a dozen systems on display, underscoring how three years of battlefield use in Ukraine is reshaping global demand for land-based military robotics.

The surge in exhibitor presence reflects intensifying interest in autonomous and teleoperated ground systems for frontline logistics, casualty evacuation, and combat roles within the global Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Market

Main Development

Ukraine recorded its largest-ever presence at France's largest defense trade show, fielding more than 40 manufacturers, several of which publicly displayed combat robots for the first time.

State-owned manufacturer Ukroboronprom featured its Ravlyk UMP-3, armed with Ukrainian-made anti-tank guided missiles, which has operated with frontline units for nearly two years carrying loads of up to 200 kilograms. European entrants included Italy's IDV, now owned by Leonardo, which debuted the CL2X platform fitted with Leonardo's Hitfist 30 unmanned turret, while UK-based VisionWave introduced its Varan UGV designed for GPS-denied and jammed conditions.

Established defense primes, including AM General and General Dynamics European Land Systems, also presented UGV offerings, with the latter showcasing its Bullfrog system.

Key Highlights:

  • At least 50 UGV makers and more than a dozen systems were displayed at Eurosatory 2026, with over 40 Ukrainian manufacturers participating.

  • Analysts noted that, beyond Ukraine, formal military integration of UGVs in meaningful numbers has not yet been achieved, indicating supply currently exceeds demand.

  • Communications reliability remains a constraint, as Starlink-equipped UGVs faced signal blockage in dense forested terrain during NATO's Crystal Arrow exercise in Latvia.

  • The global UGV market is projected to reach USD 4.08 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 6.9 percent from 2023 to 2030.

Analyst Insight:

NMSC analysts note that accelerated global defense modernization and the rising adoption of uncrewed, multi-domain warfare systems are key drivers of UGV demand, as governments prioritize next-generation land robotics for frontline logistics, perimeter security, autonomous reconnaissance, and explosive ordnance disposal. They further observe that regulatory uncertainty and increasingly stringent cybersecurity requirements continue to constrain large-scale adoption across both defense and civilian markets.

Industry Outlook:

While the proliferation of combat-proven systems at Eurosatory 2026 signals strong industry momentum, independent experts caution that a gap persists between manufacturer offerings and confirmed military demand outside Ukraine. Resolving communications resilience and interoperability challenges will likely determine how quickly procurement scales across NATO and allied forces, with North America expected to retain a dominant share of the global market.
