Almond Production — Almond production refers to the annual output of almonds harvested within a country, measured in tonnes or metric tons. The indicator captures the quantity of almonds produced during a given year and provides a time series of national production levels. It reflects agricultural output from almond orchards intended for commercial, industrial, and agricultural use. Production statistics are compiled from international agricultural databases and official national reporting agencies, providing a standardized measure for comparing almond production across countries and over time.
Output rose from approximately 1.47 thousand tonnes in 2020 to more than 3.1 thousand tonnes in 2021, reaching a peak of around 5.32 thousand tonnes in 2022. Although production declined slightly during 2023 and 2024, remaining above 3.5 thousand tonnes, output continued to significantly exceed earlier levels. The strong growth observed during the decade suggests increased investment in almond cultivation, expansion of orchard areas, improved agricultural practices, and greater adoption of higher-yield varieties. Favorable climatic conditions in several agricultural regions have also supported the development of commercial almond production. Government initiatives promoting agricultural diversification and rural development may have further contributed to increased cultivation. Despite recent declines from the 2022 peak, Azerbaijan's almond industry remains substantially larger than it was at the beginning of the period, indicating structural improvements rather than temporary fluctuations alone. Continued investment in irrigation, modern orchard management, pest control, and post-harvest processing could further strengthen production capacity and improve product quality. Expanding export opportunities and value-added processing industries may also support future sector growth. Overall, the 2015–2024 production trend reflects Azerbaijan's successful expansion of almond production, highlighting the country's growing role within the regional almond industry while demonstrating continued opportunities for productivity improvements and market development.
