Beeswax Production — Beeswax production refers to the annual production output of beeswax, measured in tonnes or metric tons. The indicator presents country-level beeswax production statistics and time series, with values reported for each year in the selected period. It represents the quantity of beeswax harvested or produced from beekeeping activities within a country under the relevant apiculture and livestock product classification. Statistics are compiled from international agricultural databases and national agricultural reporting systems, including sources such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and official country data where available. The figures represent total beeswax production within the selected country and may include beeswax obtained from managed honeybee colonies and reported under the overall beeswax product category.
The indicator reflects regional-level beeswax output measured in tonnes and provides an overview of production performance across major producing countries, including the U.S., Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, during the selected period.
Between 2015 and 2024, North America’s beeswax production demonstrated a relatively stable but varied trend across countries. The U.S. maintained consistent production levels of approximately 1.58 thousand tonnes annually, reflecting a mature and well-established apiculture sector supported by commercial beekeeping operations, agricultural pollination services, and advanced hive management practices. Mexico recorded higher fluctuations, with production ranging between approximately 1.12 and 1.84 thousand tonnes during the period, influenced by climatic conditions, colony productivity, environmental factors, and changes in beekeeping activities. The Dominican Republic showed gradual growth in beeswax production, increasing from around 1.05 thousand tonnes in 2015 to approximately 1.14 thousand tonnes in 2024, indicating steady development in its apiculture sector.
The region’s beeswax industry is supported by diverse ecological conditions, extensive honeybee populations, and strong demand from industries such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food processing, candles, and natural product manufacturing. Production levels are influenced by factors including honeybee colony health, availability of floral resources, climate conditions, disease management, and beekeeping efficiency.
This indicator includes beeswax produced from domestic apiculture activities and covers annual regional production reported under the beeswax product classification. It excludes honey production, other bee products, international trade activities, consumption patterns, processing volumes, market prices, and economic valuation. Overall, North America’s beeswax production reflects a stable and diversified apiculture industry, highlighting the region’s continued importance in global beeswax supply chains.
